SBCTZN
Biography
SBCTZN (Tony Grainger) has constantly provoked the experimental air
disturbances in the city of Birmingham, UK. After studying sound engineering, he started working at ‘Tempest Records, in charge of the technol electro/electronica buyer. From there he was head hunted to prominent international vinyl distribution company ‘Integrale Muzique’ the company that started and propagated the Birmingham techno sound. From this perspective he was privileged in trading records to and from the UK and around the world.
In promotion and DJing, the style of music has varied widely but ‘glitch’ and super-editing-loop-defiance is always the intention whatever the rhythm pattern.
This could be catering for the heavy dancefloor wherever necessary, or subtler abstractions for more artistic back drops.
Now working for the hugely influential Hare & Hounds in Birmingham, he’s been the sound engineer for all their dj shows for the past 15 years assisting countless huge dj names to the ever growing reputation of the venue.
Whether it be booking artists or selecting records, the raison d’etre has been presenting cutting edge experimentation across a wide variety of spliced genres.
